It’s Showtime Anne Curtis recently finished her second major marathon, this time in London, as she carried the name of a United Nations agency dedicated to children’s welfare.
And I did it! Finished my Second World Major Marathon 🥇. Time – 5:12. The @londonmarathon was my hardest race. The hardest to get into and the hardest for me to finish. Don’t get me wrong, the route is much easier than NYC but I did not expect the unusual London heat. The moment I hit 20km at 12:30pm. I had a hard time breathing, felt dehydrated, the sun was beaming intensely and at one point I wanted to give up (I know. So dramatic) but I knew I was running this for a cause. Running with a mission – For the FILIPINO YOUTH @unicefphils . As painful as it was, it helped me power through those 42 kilometres! I’d like to thank the Filipino Community here in London that were on the side lines cheering me on. You don’t know how much it helped me. Thank you. I’ve read all your posts and I’m so touched by your kind words. Thank you so much! Mistakes and new learnings were made on this run but I’m just happy that I crossed that finish line. @londonmarathon you were amazing and my first ever toughest run but I’m coming back for you when I’m done with the world majors!! Just you wait. #Londonmarathon #LondonMarathANNEventure 🇬🇧👊🏼🇬🇧
The Kapamilya actress was wearing a blue tank top with the print “For the Filipino Youth” for the duration of the marathon. Anne considers finishing the 42-kilometer London Marathon as one of her foremost achievements, but Anne has made no secret of her struggles leading up to and during the April 22 event.
What or WHO do I run for? THE FILIPINO YOUTH 🇵🇭 All donations will go towards programs of @unicefphils for children affected by the way of Marawi. You can STILL donate over on my simplygiving page. The link is in my bio. The final amount achieved on race day, I shall match as my donation towards UNICEF Philippines. 🇵🇭 So excited and nervous!!!!! 42km 26.2 miles! Here we go 2 more sleeps! . . P.S – The @londonmarathon expo was so much fun! Buying memorabilia Merch is my fave thing!!! #LondonMarathon #LondonMarathANNEventure
According to Anne: The London Marathon was my hardest race — the hardest to get into and the hardest for me to finish.”
The smile you make when you get to the home stretch. All the pain, cramps, crazy thoughts, the shortness of breath disappear. You realize YOU’VE DONE IT. The feeling of euphoria rushes through your body and the smile cannot be erased off of your face. 😃 I let the @unicefphils flag fly high and proud knowing that all the pain, tears and each of the 42 kilometers were worth it. THE CHILDREN OF THE PHILIPPINES ARE WORTH IT. I will never tire of doing what I can – whether a big or small gesture – to help make this world a better place for children. Thank you to everyone that donated! As of today, we have raised 381,707 and still counting on my simply giving page!!! I’ve read all the comments and I’m truly so grateful. From the bottom of my heart, a humongous hug and kiss to everyone around the world that donated. As promised, I shall match the final amount. All funds raised will go towards UNICEF’S response for Marawi Children 💙🇵🇭💙 Again, THANK YOU! #LondonMarathon #LondonMarathANNEventure
Anne drew her strength from UK-based Filipinos who cheered her on from the sidelines. But her biggest supporter was her husband, Erwan Heussaff, who accompanied her every step of the way, as seen in a video shot and edited by the restaurateur and vlogger.
The minute-long clip, uploaded on Anne’s’ official fan page on Facebook, shows the “It’s Showtime” host arriving in London, touring the city, and doing final training only a few days before the marathon
In a portion of the video that shows the actual run, the 33-year old actress appeared to spot her husband who was filming from the sidelines, and drew encouragement from him. Initially set to continue running, Anne then turned back to her husband and started shedding tears, telling him, “I’m tired.”
“It’s okay,” Erwann replied, kissing her forehead.
The intimate moment between Anne and Erwann was a rare look into their relationship, which they have both consciously kept off the limelight despite being public figures.
