A well-known hospital in the Philippines, the Philippine General Hospital, a tertiary state-owned hospital administered and operated by the University of the Philippines Manila, the University of the Philippines System’s Health Sciences Center has been criticized its staff when they took the chair of a senior citizen.
A certain Mheng Degala Rustia posted the photos to the Facebook page “Batang Tundo”, which immediately caught the attention of many netizens.
In the photo, the old man can be seen standing while waiting for something, though there were dozens of chairs next to him. According to the post’s author, the old man took one of the chairs and sat on it for a while, but one hospital staff approached him and took the chair from him saying the chairs aren’t meant for “just anyone”. To make things worse, they “chained and locked” the chairs so that no one else could use them.
Here’s Rustia’s Facebook post: “Guys!
Many netizens expressed anger towards the hospital, criticizing the hospital staff’s actions. PGH hasn’t replied to the criticisms and accusations thrown at them regarding the incident.
